Here at Dental Health and Implant Centre, we treat more than oral health. We also offer facial aesthetics services for patients interested in facial injection treatments.
Patient Skin Concerns
We’re happy to meet with patients who are concerned about wrinkles and fine lines. As we age, skin naturally loses volume, and we start to see changes in our faces. Our talented team is trained and certified to offer facial injections to help address your concerns. Book an appointment with us to learn more about these treatments and whether they are the right option for you.
Relax Wrinkles with Protein Injections
We use a naturally occurring bacterial protein injection that temporarily relaxes muscles in the face. We inject the protein just under the skin and into the muscles. This prevents the release of acetylcholine by blocking the neurotransmitters that cause the muscles to contract. When muscles contract less often, wrinkles appear to smooth out. Areas that we can treat by relaxing facial muscles:
Frown lines between the eyebrows
Lines in the forehead
Lines above the lips
Other Medical Uses for Protein Injections
Skin injections are sometimes used in patients who have a condition known as hyperhidrosis. This condition is excess perspiration, usually on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet or the armpits. Using the same protein that relaxes the muscles of the face, we can block nerves in the skin that trigger sweating. Patients who suffer from bruxism (clenching or grinding their teeth), may consider trying these injections if other treatments aren’t solving their issue. For bruxism treatment, we can inject this protein near the jaw joint on each side, relaxing the mandibular muscles.
We use a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid to add volume to ageing skin. The chemical compound in our filler injection is formulated to replicate your body’s natural hyaluronic acid, which adds hydration and volume to your face. Before treatment, we will discuss the amount of volume we will add to areas of your face. Our facial fillers can be used to help add volume to areas such as:
Lines around the upper and lower lips
The nasolabial folds (better known as smiles lines or laugh lines)
Vertical lip lines
